I have received the checks for my rollover IRAs, and I've mailed out the check with the Roth funds. I'm waiting for it to get deposited into my account, but I'm hoping it will show up online soon. I'm still sitting on the other check. I think I'm going to wait and see what happens, and if Merrill Edge calls me again. They'd called me a couple days after I set up the account to see if I needed help with anything, but that was before I'd realized how many fees there would be and started questioning the whole idea. I was also considering setting up a direct deposit into the IRA to meet the minimum balance before sending in the check, but after searching through my employee account I couldn't find a way to do it. The direct deposit options only include checking and savings. There's another option for voluntary deductions, but the only a few preset options are available. I don't know how else to make a pretax contribution. Could I just write a check and deal with sorting it out when I do my taxes? (It doesn't really matter what the answer is; I don't really have the money to spare at the moment.) This whole investing thing is completely new to me.
I wish a Happy Thanksgiving to those of you in the U.S.
